MELA shoes – ecological and sustainable on the go
MELA shoes are made entirely from ecologically sound and recyclable materials. They are available for men and women, but are suitable for everyone regardless of gender categories. Your personal taste is important to us, which is why we distinguish between three variants:

• Mela Sneaker All Black (vegan)
• Mela Sneaker Leather

The special thing about MELA shoes is that all 25 individual materials are GOTS-certified. This clearly sets us apart from other suppliers who also strive for sustainability. We only use 100% Fairtrade cotton for production, which of course has the Fairtrade Cotton seal. In this way, we confirm our ecological and social standards, which are the focus of all MELA projects and products.

MELA shoes are not only environmentally friendly and sustainable, but also impress with their attractive design and long durability. The outer shoe is made of robust, breathable organic canvas, while we use a particularly durable cotton fabric for the inner shoe. The non-slip and flexible natural rubber sole ensures stability and maximum stability, and extra padding in the insole and around the heel ensures a great wearing comfort. Perfect care makes MELA shoes your long-term companion. We therefore recommend a GOTS-certified waterproofing spray to enhance the water-repellent function of the cotton canvas. However, the sneakers should always only be cleaned by hand; for professional cleaning, the sustainable sneaker cleaner is the optimal alternative.

MELA shoes are one of the most successful projects in our company's history, because MELA sneakers are the most sustainable sneakers in the world. The fact that we started to focus on shoes was based on a simple realization. There was not a single shoe on the entire market that met our ecological requirements. We at MELA wanted to change that and faced this specific challenge. Our goal was clear from the start. We wanted to use only natural materials that could be separated again after use. A difficult task lay ahead of us and an extremely creative phase followed. In the end, we held a shoe in our hands in which minimalism and consistency form a symbiosis and which impresses with maximum sustainability. Our sneakers meet the highest environmental standards and are real classics with their timeless casual design. They offer high stability and excellent comfort, while being inexpensive and therefore an optimal and fair choice for all customers.

The development of the world's first shoes certified according to environmental and fair trade standards required time, experience and reliable partners. In intensive exchanges between developers, producers and laboratories, we succeeded in developing a shoe that meets all our requirements. In addition to organic cotton from India and natural rubber from Sri Lanka, tools from Italy enable an inimitable design. Flexibility, stability and slip resistance were also optimized in several stages. An environmentally friendly, water-based adhesive, which is also GOTS-certified, is used to connect components. The soles and upper material of the MELA shoes are sewn together, with the 360° seam used in the shoe design being a real quality feature.

The production of our products is also subject to strict principles. Of course, no materials of animal origin are used for our vegan shoes, but important details are also taken into account in the rest of the production process. The leather is vegetable-tanned and completely chrome-free, and the use of toxic substances in the end product, in aids or in operating materials is consistently avoided at MELA. MELA shoes thus combine modern design with the highest quality for people and the environment.
